Energie, kter\u00e1 poh\u00e1n\u00ed Mars voz\u00edtko, vznik\u00e1 za pomoci atomov\u00fdch rozpad\u016f. P\u0159edpokl\u00e1dan\u00e1 \u017eivotnost radioizotopov\u00e9ho gener\u00e1toru se uv\u00e1d\u00ed 14 let. Tak\u017ee pokud nenastane n\u011bjak\u00e9 nep\u0159edpokl\u00e1dan\u00e1 technick\u00e1 z\u00e1vada, m\u011blo by voz\u00edtko pracovat a\u017e do roku 2026. Ale u\u017e te\u010f b\u011bhem sv\u00e9 p\u011btilet\u00e9 anab\u00e1ze v\u011bdc\u016fm nejednou potvrdilo, \u017ee i Mars byl \u201e\u017eivou planetou\u201c.  P\u0159i srovn\u00e1n\u00ed s pozemsk\u00fdmi voz\u00edtky se nejeden\u00e1 o n\u011bjak\u00e9 p\u0159elomov\u00e9 hranice v\u00fdkonosti. Od sv\u00e9ho p\u0159ist\u00e1n\u00ed datovan\u00e9ho na 6. srpna 2012 po povrchu Marsu ujelo jen n\u011bco m\u00e1lo oko 19 kilometr\u016f a zdolalo p\u0159ev\u00fd\u0161en\u00ed 180 metr\u016f z m\u00edsta p\u0159ist\u00e1n\u00ed. Ov\u0161em v oblasti dob\u00fdv\u00e1n\u00ed vesm\u00edru se jedn\u00e1 o velmi d\u016fle\u017eit\u00e9 metry. Tento vesm\u00edrn\u00fd \u201ep\u00e1tra\u010d\u201c toti\u017e naplnil ve\u0161ker\u00e9 o\u010dek\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed na n\u011bj kladen\u00e1. A to je p\u0159itom jeho velikost srovnateln\u00e1 se slavn\u00fdm Mini Cooprem. \u010c\u00edm\u017e se op\u011bt prokazuje, \u017ee p\u0159i dob\u00fdv\u00e1n\u00ed lokalit na\u0161\u00ed slune\u010dn\u00ed soustavy nehraje, a\u017e tak velkou roli velikost. V posledn\u00ed dob\u011b se Curiosity pohybuje po dn\u011b 145 kilometr\u016f \u0161irok\u00e9ho kr\u00e1teru Gale, kter\u00fd byl v minulosti sladkovodn\u00edm jezerem.  Za zm\u00ednkou rovn\u011b\u017e stoj\u00ed palubn\u00ed v\u00fdsledky laborato\u0159e voz\u00edtka. Potvrzuj\u00edc\u00ed, \u017ee prad\u00e1vn\u00fd Mars umo\u017e\u0148oval \u017eivot jednoduch\u00fdm organism\u016fm, kte\u0159\u00ed zde \u017eily mili\u00f3ny let. Ot\u00e1zkou pro v\u011bdce tedy z\u016fst\u00e1v\u00e1, pro\u010d se z Marsu \u017eivot vytratil, pro\u010d se ztratila tekouc\u00ed voda a co vedlo ke zm\u011bn\u011b atmosf\u00e9ry, kter\u00e1 b\u00fdvala hust\u0161\u00ed ne\u017e ne zemi. Stejn\u011b tak v\u011bdce zaj\u00edm\u00e1 jev, p\u0159i kter\u00e9m se objevuje v atmosf\u00e9\u0159e metan a zase miz\u00ed. I kdy\u017e o ujet\u00e9 kilometry zas a\u017e tak nejde, tak i p\u0159esto NASA p\u0159ipravila sest\u0159ih cel\u00e9 cesty sv\u00e9ho mechanick\u00e9ho pr\u016fzkumn\u00edka.Budouc\u00ed pr\u00e1ce H\u0159eben \u201eVera Cooper Rubin\u201c nesouc\u00ed jm\u00e9no zesnul\u00e9 astronautky (1928 -2016), kter\u00e1 se zaslou\u017eila i o p\u0159edlo\u017een\u00ed p\u0159\u00edm\u00fdch d\u016fkaz\u016f o existenci temn\u00e9 hmoty ve vesm\u00edru je dal\u0161\u00edm c\u00edlem na\u0161eho \u0161ikovn\u00e9ho pr\u016fzkumn\u00edka. Od 7. srpna Curiosity stoup\u00e1 po svahu hory Sharp a odeb\u00edr\u00e1 vzorky hornin, co\u017e poslou\u017e\u00ed k pochopen\u00ed toho, jak se Mars v pr\u016fb\u011bhu sv\u00e9 existence m\u011bnil. Pot\u0159ebnou \u017eivotnost pro napln\u011bn\u00ed v\u0161ech c\u00edl\u016f mise v\u011bdci odhadovali na necel\u00e9 dva roky. Po dosa\u017een\u00ed vyty\u010den\u00fdch c\u00edl\u016f rozhodla NASA o prodlou\u017een\u00ed programu. V roce 2020 je sice napl\u00e1nov\u00e1n start nov\u00e9ho obdobn\u00e9ho typu voz\u00edtka.
